DESIGNER OF THE WEEK

    Hello everyone its been a while since I've actually typed a post not just using polyvore but I'm so excited about this one its the second segment of the designer of the week ( yay!!). This time it's not really  a designer but a designer brand that I have been loving for a while now but it is completely out of my price range ( almost all of their items are thousands of dollars). So let's hear it for Chanel, before I go into my love for the brand let me give you a bit of a background on it.

Chanel is a french high fashion house owned by Alain and Gerard Wertheimer; grandsons of  Pierre Wertheimer who was an early business partner of Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel (known famously as Coco Chanel). Gabrielle got the nickname "Coco" while working as a chanteuse. The legendary fashion house was founded by Coco in 1909 and she created their designs till her death on the 10th of January 1971. The fashion house is headquartered at 135 Avenue Charles de Gaulle, 92521 NeuillY- sur- Seine, Cedex, Paris, France. It has 310 stores worldwide, Maureen Chiquet is the CEO and Karl Lagerfield is the creative director. Here is a picture of Coco Chanel before her death - 

Moving on let me just show you some of their merchandise. Chanel is a brand that is usually associated with a kind of preppy, classy or vintage feel and their outfits are amazing but I prefer their bags which I believe are to die for. Here are some photos with descriptions of some of my favorite bags but before we start I must tell you their bags either come in caviar leather or lambskin leather, I prefer black bags in caviar leather and other colors in lambskin leather.

The  above is a beautiful Chanel classic flap bag in quilted lambskin leather with gold hardware in baby pink.

Next is this beautiful black Chanel double flap with quilted caviar leather and gold hardware in jumbo size. If you noticed the lambskin looks smoother than the caviar and the caviar is more shiny but if you are looking for a starter Chanel bag the black classic flap ( single or double flap) in quilted caviar leather and gold hardware would be ideal as it is easier to maintain. 

Next is the GST ( Grand Shopping Tote). Its bigger than the classic flap and its more of a shopping or work bag as it can fit some laptops. The above one is in a black quilted lambskin leather with gold hardware and unlike in the flap the Chanel insignia is not a hardware but was sewn into the bag.

Last but not least is the Chanel wallet on a chain in quilted lambskin leather with silver hardware in a maroon color.
